Net metering ends in 2027

← News (Dutch)

From 2027, solar power you use yourself is worth much more than power you feed back into the grid. A home battery helps you use more yourself. But does it pay off for you?

What is changing?

  • Net metering (salderen) ends on 1 January 2027. Until the end of 2026 you may still offset the power you feed back against your consumption.
  • You get a feed-in compensation. Until 2030 it must be at least 50% of the bare supply rate, meaning the electricity price without taxes.
  • Feed-in costs remain possible, but only for costs the supplier actually incurs to process the power you feed back. The ACM supervises this.

Calculate it

Enter your own details. You see what your feed-in is worth now, what is left of it from 2027 and roughly what a home battery saves.

An indication, not advice. Your rates are on your annual statement or at your energy supplier. Net metering only counts here as long as you do not export more than you use. For the battery we calculate with 250 full charges per year and 10% loss; in winter there is less sun to spare.

When does a home battery pay off?

  • You feed back a lot, for example because you are rarely at home during the day.
  • You have a dynamic energy contract: then the battery can also charge when power is cheap and discharge when it is expensive.
  • You do not want to shift your consumption yourself. If you already use a lot yourself during the day, for example with a heat pump water heater, a battery yields less.

Not sure? Send us your annual consumption and your generation, and we will do an honest calculation with you. Even if the answer is that a battery does not pay off for you (yet).
